Bread & Butter Health & Fitness

Built from
injury,
purpose &
people.

A coaching practice rooted in real experience — not theory. Founded by someone who has been through the injuries, the rehab, and the rebuilding. And came out the other side with a system that actually works.

Three broken ankles.
One decision.

BBHF didn't start with a business plan. It started with a broken ankle — the third one in under three years. Multiple foot and ankle injuries, rehabs, and recoveries had become a pattern David couldn't afford to keep repeating.

The turning point wasn't just getting healthy. It was deciding to stop blindly following coaches and conditioning staff and start understanding how his own body actually worked in motion. That decision — to take ownership, to learn the mechanics, to read the feedback his body was giving — changed everything.

"I didn't just want to recover. I wanted to understand. To know why I kept breaking down — and how to build something that wouldn't."

That understanding became the foundation of BBHF. The same approach David used to rebuild himself is the same framework he now uses with every client — the MOVE5 system, rooted in movement quality, biofeedback, and education. Not programs. Not templates. Real coaching.

David holds degrees in Kinesiology and Behavioral Health — a combination that reflects exactly what BBHF is built on: how the body moves, and how the mind and behavior shape long-term health. He chose to focus on building the business rather than continuing formal schooling, because the work was more important than the credential. He has been coaching and training for nearly a decade, working with individuals, athletes, families, and people with disabilities across Australia and the USA.

The fitness industry was
missing something.

01

THE APPEARANCE TRAP

Most people enter health and fitness through the lens of physical appearance — shaped by influencers, bodybuilders, and social media. But ask anyone honestly: if you looked great in 10 years but couldn't move well, felt unhealthy, and couldn't perform the way you wanted — would you be happy? Appearance is a byproduct. It was never the goal.

02

INTENSITY WITHOUT INTENTION

The industry was loud, extreme, and focused on aesthetics. Nobody was asking the right questions — how does this person actually move? What does their body need today? Hard work without understanding is just wear and tear.

03

DISABILITY CARE WITHOUT DIRECTION

After over a year working with individuals with disabilities, David saw a clear gap — quality of life was being maintained, but nobody was setting physical and mental goals to actually improve it. Survival is not the same as thriving.

04

NO HUMAN CONNECTION

Coaching had become transactional. Programs were sold. People weren't seen. BBHF was built around being present for the individual the way David wished someone had been there for him — guiding, teaching, and genuinely caring.

The standards we hold
every session to.

Guide first

Everything springs from coaching, teaching, and guiding. The language we use, the services we provide — it all starts with being there for the individual the way you wish someone had been there for you.

Movement quality

How you move matters more than how much you lift. We assess first, progress intentionally, and never compromise quality for intensity.

Long-term thinking

Quick fixes aren't solutions. We build foundations that last — for daily life, for sport, for aging, and for the people who depend on you.

Simplify everything

Health and fitness should not be complicated. Nutrition, movement, recovery — all of it can be made simple, practical, and sustainable for real life.

Performance over appearance

Growing up the youngest of four brothers — all of whom played basketball at a high level, all from the #1 sports school in Australia — the standard was always performance. How well you move, compete, and endure. Looking good follows. It was never the point.

The philosophy
starts at home.

David met his wife in college — basketball didn't just shape his coaching career, it brought him to the United States, introduced him to his wife, and started the family and life's mission he now builds everything around.

With four kids, health and fitness isn't something that gets left at the gym. The Chappuis family moves together. The kids understand nutrition, sleep, and exercise — not as rules, but as a natural part of everyday life. They work out alongside their parents, move together, and live what BBHF teaches.

"My mission is simple — love God, love people, and serve joyfully through health and fitness. That's not a tagline. That's how we live."

From Fairfield, NSW to California to Savannah, Georgia — the journey has been shaped by basketball, family, faith, and a genuine belief that movement is one of the most powerful tools for living well.
